New Roofs
Full roof installations for homes across Hampshire, Dorset and Surrey. Stripped back, rebuilt properly and finished to last. Backed by a 20 year workmanship guarantee and insured through our CORC membership, so the roof you pay for is the roof you get.
When Is It Time for a New Roof?
Most roofs in the UK are built to last somewhere between 40 and 80 years depending on the materials, but every roof has a finish line. Repeated leaks, sagging timbers, widespread tile slippage, moss taking hold no matter how often it’s treated, damp patches spreading across ceilings, or a nail-sickness problem that keeps sending slates to the ground: any one of these can be a sign that patching is no longer the answer.
A new roof isn’t a small decision. Financially or logistically. That’s why we come out first, get up on the roof properly, and tell you honestly whether you’re looking at a repair or a replacement. If a repair will genuinely buy you another decade, we’ll say so. If the structure underneath is past saving, we’ll explain why, and show you the evidence.
When the answer is a new roof, we take the time to do it right. Every installation starts with a full strip off, a proper inspection of the timbers beneath, and a specification agreed with you in writing before the first tile is touched.
New Roof Construction
Building from the rafters up on new build homes, loft conversions, side return extensions and wrap-arounds. We work directly from the architect's drawings and Building Control spec, installing breathable membranes, counter battens, battens, insulation where required, and the finished covering of your choice. All signed off properly on completion.
Flat roof work on extensions, dormers, garages and porches using EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass, felt or liquid systems. Flat roofing has its own page with full detail on each system. Head over to our Flat Roofs section to see which is right for your project.
Full strip and replace on existing roofs that have reached the end of their life. We remove the old covering, skip and recycle responsibly, inspect every rafter and purlin, replace any timber that's rotted or beyond saving, then re-felt, re-batten and re-cover in the material you've chosen. Chimneys, flashings, vents, valleys and ridges are all renewed or re-set as part of the job.
Traditional cut roofs and modern trussed roof installations. From straightforward gable ends to complex hipped and valleyed layouts. Correct pitch, correct batten gauge, correct ventilation at eaves and ridge, full breathable membrane underlay. We build pitched roofs the way they're meant to last.
Natural slate from leading UK, Spanish and Brazilian quarries, plus fibre cement slate alternatives from Cembrit and Marley Eternit. Slates are head nailed or hook fixed to match the pitch and exposure, with hand cut valleys where the roof design calls for them. Sympathetic to period homes, crisp on contemporary ones.
Clay plain tiles, clay pantiles, concrete interlocking tiles and concrete plain tiles from the big UK names. Marley, Redland, Sandtoft, Russell, Dreadnought and others. Whatever the style and character of your property, we'll source the right tile at the right profile and colour, and install it to current British Standards.

A properly built new roof doesn’t just stop leaks. It adds real value to the property, improves thermal efficiency and, most importantly, buys you decades of not having to think about it. We’ve been doing this for over twenty years, and we’ve yet to meet a homeowner who regretted having the job done properly.
Get in touch for a free, no-obligation survey and written quote. We’ll come out when it suits you, climb up where we need to, and give you the straight story on what your roof actually needs.
Guarantees You Can Actually Rely On
Every new roof we install comes with three layers of protection built in:
In writing, from us, on day one. If the workmanship fails inside 20 years, we come back and put it right. No arguments, no small print games.
As members of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors, your guarantee is insurance-backed. Meaning if we were ever unable to honour it ourselves, the underwriter steps in. That's protection most roofers simply can't offer.
On top of our workmanship cover, the materials themselves carry manufacturer warranties of up to 30+ years, so your tiles, slates, membranes and fixings are all independently backed by the makers.

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we get asked most often about new roofs. If yours isn’t here, give us a ring. We’re always happy to talk it through.
Honestly, you probably don't, and you shouldn't have to. That's our job. We come out, get up on the roof, and give you a straight answer. A well targeted repair can add years to many roofs. But if your roof is over 50 years old, has multiple issues happening at once, or has been patched up repeatedly, a full replacement usually works out cheaper in the long run. We'll show you exactly what we find and let you decide.
All of them. Natural slate from UK, Spanish and Brazilian quarries; fibre cement slate alternatives from manufacturers like Cembrit and Marley Eternit; clay plain tiles and pantiles; concrete interlocking and plain tiles from Marley, Redland, Sandtoft, Russell, Dreadnought and others. For flat sections of roof we also fit EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass, felt and liquid systems. We'll recommend what suits your property best and let you make the final call.
We cover the whole of Hampshire, Dorset and Surrey. If you're in any of the three counties, you're in our patch. Not sure? Give us a ring on 07304 092761 or send us your postcode via the contact form.
The short version: we strip the existing roof back to the timbers, skip and recycle the old materials responsibly, inspect every rafter and purlin, replace anything that's rotten or beyond saving, then re-felt with a breathable membrane, re-batten, and re-cover in the material you've chosen. Chimneys, lead flashings, ridge, verge, valleys and eaves detailing are all renewed as part of the job. You'll get a clear run-through of each stage before we start.
Yes. Because we're members of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors (CORC), every new roof guarantee we issue is underwritten. Meaning if MGP Roofing couldn't honour it for any reason, the insurer would step in. That's not something every roofer can offer, and it's one of the reasons we chose to join CORC in the first place.
Yes. We carry £10 million of public liability insurance on every job, big or small. That protects your property, anyone inside it, neighbouring properties, and anyone who happens to be passing by while we're working. We'll happily send a copy of the certificate with the quote if you'd like to see it.
